Elden Adois Reed

May 13, 1929 — May 28, 2011

E. A. (Elden) Reed, 82, of Amarillo passed away on Saturday May 28, 2011. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 31 at Bolton Street Baptist Church, with Rev. Leon Green, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage. Mr. Reed was born May 13, 1929 in Amarillo. He attended Amarillo High School. He married Nell Reed, December 24, 1948 in Clovis N.M. He was a retired truck driver for ABF and Navajo Freight Lines for over 38 years. Elden was a devoted and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was a devout Christian and Baptist deacon. Those who knew him know he rarely met a stranger or someone he was not willing to help or care for. His family and friends could always depend upon his honesty and trust whenever he was called upon. During his youth, Elden was a violinist for the Amarillo Junior Symphony. Many did not know of his musical abilities. His violin was one of his prized possessions. He continued his interest in golf upon his retirement with several friends. He played regularly until his wife's health forced him to be at home continually. Survivors include his wife, Nell; one daughter, Jeanette of Panama City, FL; two sons, Mike and his wife Joy of North Richland Hills and Rickey and his wife Andrea of Arlington; and 6 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. Elden will be deeply missed. His family and friends know however that he has started a new life with the Lord Jesus Christ whom he loved and served. He will be seen again by all who know his Savior. He will always be remembered until that time in prayers and thoughts. Any memorials may be sent to Bolton Street Baptist Church.
