Elena Rodriguez-Magallanes

Elena R. Magallanes, 95, of Amarillo passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on December 17, 2022. Public visitation will be held at Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 3pm to 5pm. The family will receive guests at 5pm. Rosary will be recited beginning at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022 at 10am at St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington with Rev. Tony Neusch presiding. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Elena R Magallanes, Queen of our hearts was born August 18, 1927 in Chihuahua Mexico to Emilio Rodriguez and Benita R Felix Rodriguez, and grew up in Las Cruces, N.M where she met and married Antonio G Magallanes in September 12th, 1949 she was 22 years old. They had 2 sons and 7 daughters. Having been a homemaker all her life, Elena was involved in various prayer groups and bereavement committees at Our Lady of Guadalupe where they were lifetime members. Through the years Elena sang alongside her husband Antonio at many and various functions and events throughout Antonios singing career in the Panhandle of Texas. Elena was married sixty six years to her soulmate, Antonio aka "El Canario". Elena was also involved in various and many school functions and absolutely the best room mother, she was a mom to all. She clothed and fed many children from outside the home. Elena passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 17th, 2022. Elena is preceded in death by Alejandra Magallanes, Antonio G Magallanes, and Ignacio Antonio Magallanes. Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Martin Magallanes, Laura M Thorne, Francisca Smith and her husband Michael Smith, Maria Del Rosario Akridge and her husband Jay Akridge, Ana Maria McClurg and her husband Rick McClurg, Virginia M Dunn, and Genoveva Taylor and her husband Scott Taylor. Elena also leaves a legacy of 31 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 22 great great grandchildren.
