Enid Crozier

May 20, 2021 — March 11, 2011

Enid ""Edie"" Crozier, 89, succumbed to pancreatic cancer and moved to her Eternal Home on March 11, 2011. Edie's life will be honored during The Craig Retirement Center Cowboy Ministry Team's 9:30am services on Sunday, March 13th. A memorial service will be conducted by Chaplain Bob Crass at 2:00pm Tuesday March 15th at The Craig Methodist Retirement Center Chapel. Arrangements by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 South Osage Street, Amarillo. Interment with her husband will be at a later date at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, South Dakota. She married Leslie T. Crozier, an Army Air Corps sergeant, in 1942. She took pride in the fact that Leslie was one of the few enlisted sergeant pilots to earn a battlefield commission to be an officer and eventually retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. In her life as an Air Force wife, she made homes in such far flung locales as Germany after WWII and Alaska before it was a state. During those years, they were blessed with their three daughters, Rebekah, Carol and Connie. They spent the majority of their retirement in the Black Hills area of South Dakota, where Enid worked many years for the Northern Plains Baptist Convention. After her husband's death in 1991, she continued to live in the beautiful Black Hills. She was especially grateful for the love, support and help of her wonderful neighbors, especially the Nelson family, and her church family at Foothills Community Baptist Church in Piedmont SD. Her committed service to Christ inspired all who knew her and benefited Southern Baptist mission churches wherever she lived. Mrs. Crozier moved to Amarillo in 2005 to be closer to her daughters. Upon her arrival in Texas, she used that new start to rid herself of her unusual name ""Enid"" and became ""Edie"". She loved her new name and new home at The Craig Retirement Center and quickly endeared herself to others through her volunteer work. Edie's volunteer activities included handing out hymnals and name tags during Sunday services, delivering groceries to residents on the third floor who needed a little extra help, and setting up the equipment and chairs for the resident exercise classes three times a week. She especially enjoyed being the assistant to expert gardener Wenonah Martin as they tended the indoor plants that added beauty to their surroundings at the retirement center. She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sister, and her husband, Leslie. Survivors include daughters Rebekah Vowels of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; Carol Allen and her husband Jeff of Amarillo; Connie Willan and her husband Craig of Justin; Three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Craig Retirement Center for making her years there so enjoyable. We also are grateful for the excellent care provided by Dr Merki and the staff at BSA Family Medical Clinic, the nurses and staff at BSA Hospice, and Michelle at Goodcare Health Services. To honor the wonderful service given by the employees to the residents, the family suggests memorials be made to The Craig Methodist Retirement Center Employee Fund, 5500 SW 9th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79106.
