E.P. 'Sam' Velasquez

E.P. "Sam" Velasquez 92, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, with Joe Velasquez, son officiating. Burial will be at Llano East Cemetery, Field of Valor with military honors provided by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Sam was born in Canadian. He proudly served in the Army during WWII. He moved to Amarillo in 1959. Sam worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 47 years, retiring in 1988. He married Jessie Rodriquez on March 6, 1947 in Panhandle. He was preceded in death by 3 sons, Sammy, Daniel and Michael. Sam is survived by his wife of 71 years; two sons, Joe Velasquez and his wife Michelle of Ft Worth and Edward Velasquez and his wife Cindy of Owens, MD; two daughters, Rebecca Paris of Amarillo and Gloria Rogers and her husband Charles of Savannah, GA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren as well as many extended family members and friends.
