Epifanio Jerry Martinez

Epifanio Jerry Martinez, 75, of Amarillo died Monday, November 19, 2012 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Fr. Jose Gomez of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Martinez was born on the family farm in Coleman County. He moved to Plainview in the 1950's. Mr. Martinez married the love of his life, Natalia Valdez on December 15, 1961 in Plainview. They moved to Amarillo in 1966. After moving to Amarillo, Mr. Martinez was employed as a welder at Thrive-on Corporation. He purchased Thrive-on in 1973 and changed the name to Triple M. Metal Works. He retired from Triple M in 1985 at which time he began working for Amarillo Car Crushers. He retired in 2011. Mr. Martinez was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a special relationship with each of them. Mr. Martinez was an avid wrestling fan. He is survived by his wife. one daughter, Nelda Martinez, of Las Cruces, NM; two sons, Reuben Martinez and Fabian Martinez both of Amarillo; 8 brothers, Bill Martinez of St. Louis, MO, Joe Martinez and Johnny Martinez both of Plainview, George Martinez of Muleshoe, Lee Martinez of Saginaw, Alex Martinez of Houston, Angel Martinez of Edmonson and Ricky Martinez of Hale Center; two sisters, Rosa Rodriquez of Tennessee and Susie Vera of Plainview; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
