Ernest Jackson

Ernest R. Jackson, 80 of Amarillo died Monday January 21, 2008 at the Thomas E. Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 4:00 PM Thursday at Family Worship Center with Max Beggs, pastor officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Jackson was born in Amarillo. He served in the Navy during WWII. He owned and operated several automotive repair shops in Amarillo. He retired after selling Circle 4 Transmissions. He married Violet Patterson in 1957. She preceded him in death in 1995. He married Grace Clayton in 1996. She died on January 11, 2008. He was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Cathy Jackson and Tina Holland. Mr. Jackson loved children and working on cars and clocks. Survivors include: a daughter Rosa Elkins and her husband Billy of Amarillo; 2 sons, Richard Jackson and his wife Sherrie of Galveston and Tommy Jackson and his wife Kim of Houston, 1 step-daughter, Sharron Harris and her husband Sid of Amarillo; 3 step-sons, Gary Don Clayton and his wife Cheri of Albuquerque, NM, Dennis Lee Clayton and his wife Linda and Randy J. Clayton and his wife Dianna all of Amarillo; I sister, Dorothy Askew of Amarillo; 5 grandchildren, Gerald Barnes, Brandon Holland, Ricky Jackson, Jr., Daniel Jackson, Clint Jackson and Leah Jackson, 8 step-grandchildren, 16 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandchild. The family requests memorial donations be to the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center or Olivia's Angels in care of BSA Hospice.
