Ernest R. Montoya

Services will be at 12:00 PM Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 5:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Montoya was born in Solano, NM. He moved to Amarillo in 1967 from Tucumcari. Mr. Montoya worked as a trackman for Rock Island and Burlington Northern Santa Fe. He retired in 1990. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mr. Montoya married Fidelia Pacheco on March 17, 1961 in Tucumcari. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1988. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gabriel Montoya and a great-granddaughter, Lilianna Roman. Mr. Montoya was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by 5 daughters, Roberta ""Gina"" Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM, Teresa Gonzalez and her husband Jose, Evelyn Roman and her husband Benito of Amarillo ; Dorothy Montoya Chavez of Albuquerque, NM and Darlene Montoya and her husband Robert Klene of Dana Point, CA; 3 sons, Anthony ""Tony"" Montoya and his wife Grace, George Montoya and Joe Montoya all of Amarillo; 1 brother, Edward Montoya of Placentia, CA; his companion Lydia Cabello of Amarillo; a special daughter-in-law Alice Blea of Amarillo; 31 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 2605 S. Hayes.
