Esther V. Hamlin

Esther V. Hamlin 97, of Amarillo died Wednesday June 9, 2010 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Robert E. Field, retired Baptist minister officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Hamlin was born in Shattuck, OK. She moved to Amarillo in 1956 from Shattuck. She worked as a cook for the Amarillo Air Force Base for several years. She retired as a cook for the Amarillo ISD after many years of service. Mrs. Hamlin loved to cook for her family and friends and anyone in need of a good meal. She married Leroy Hamlin on June 5, 1938 in Shattuck. He preceded her in death in 1999 after 61 years of marriage. The family would like to thank the doctors and staffs of the Country Club Nursing and Rehab and BSA Hospice for the loving care they extended to Mrs. Hamlin. She is survived by 1 son, James R. ""Bob"" Hamlin of Amarillo; 1 daughter, Betty Jean Rannals and her husband Gene of Amarillo; 4 grandchildren, James E. Rannals, Stephanie Shelton, Erik W. Hamlin and Misti R. Hamlin and 6 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorial donations be Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and Girls Town.
