Esther Marie Scheller

Esther Marie Scheller "Little Girl" of Amarillo passed away August 12, 2026.

The family will receive friends and family at Rector Funeral Home on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. Services will be Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Rector Funeral Home Pioneer Chapel. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St.

Esther Marie Scheller was born to Clifford Jones and Sara Grimes on November 13, 1961, in Liberal, Kansas. Eventually she was adopted by Herbert and Betty Winkler. She has two sisters, Mary Spruell and Kathy Johnson, and one brother, Rodney Winkler.

In June of 1984, she married her best friend and the love of her life, Larry Arthur Scheller. They moved to Amarillo, Texas, that year, where she started her career at Northwest Texas Hospital for 29 years, and then went to AISD for the last 10 years.

Esther never met a stranger. By the time the conversation was over, you were her friend for life. She loved her family to the fullest, always telling you "I love you" before she left.

In her spare time, Esther loved going to West Texas athletics, Sod Poodles, fishing, yearly trips – especially to Walt Disney World, where the kid in her came out, and family gatherings.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Scheller of Amarillo; her mom, Sara Grimes; and Mary Spruell, Kathy Johnson, Rodney Winkler, Beverly and Scott Gray of Panhandle, Kenta Syvoraraj of Amarillo, many nieces, nephews and fur babies.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Herbert and Betty Winkler and Clifford Jones; sister-in-law, Theresa Syvoraraj; mothers-in-law, Emma Nowell and Charlene Scheller; and fathers-in-law, Monroe James Nowell and Bobby Scheller.

It's not goodbye. It's until I see you again.

The family will gather at The Crackin' Crab, 3350 S. Soncy Rd., following the service.
