Eugene Aufleger

Eugene ""Gene"" Aufleger 70 of Amarillo died Friday December 8, 2006. Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at South Georgia Baptist Church with Bob Miller, pastor officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel 8310 S. Coulter. Mr. Aufleger was born in Olpe, KS. He moved to Amarillo in 1950 from Groom. He worked in law enforcement for 35 years. He was employed at the Amarillo Police Department for more than 10 years. He served as a Lieutenant at the Pampa Police Department and retired from the Randall County Sheriff's Department in 2000. He married Jan Flowers on December 2, 1975 at Hollis, OK. Gene was a loving husband, father and grand father. Survivors include: his wife of the home, 3 daughters; Lisa Bixler and Debbie Bowles both of Amarillo and Regina Chandler of McPherson, KS., 1 son; Johnny Aufleger of Pampa, 3 stepsons; Chris Mitchell, and John Mitchell both of Pampa and Randy Mitchell of Amarillo, 3 brothers; Gaylord Aufleger, Orville Aufleger and Larry Aufleger all of Amarillo, 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donation be to the Alzheimer's Association 1400 Wallace Blvd Amarillo, TX 79106.
