Eugene Jack McLaughlin, 93, of Amarillo passed away on Tuesday March, 15, 2016 due to congestive heart failure. Eugene was born on April 14, 1922 to Elizabeth Brehm and Alfred McLaughlin in Walla Walla, WA. He graduated from Walla Walla High School and entered the army reserves. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Eugene served his country in the Pacific theater. He was most proud that he participated in the liberation of the Philippine Islands. Eugene later became commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force he obtained a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Texas, in 1960 he retired from the Air Force after obtaining the rank of Captain. Eugene then worked for Boeing, Washington State Government, and the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to death Eugene expressed his desire to be with the loved ones that preceded him in death. He is survived by his three children; Eugene Jack McLaughlin Jr., Elaine Carol Thomson, and Alfred Joseph McLaughlin, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
