On Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, Everett Robert “Bud” Nelson, 81, a loving Daddy, went to be with his Lord and Savior.
Memorial services will be at Family Life Church, 3900 S.W. 58th, on March 7th at 11:00 a.m.
Everett was born Sept. 6, 1944, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Everett Delmer Nelson and Margaret Bridget Howard. He was affectionately known by Bud or Buddy to family and friends.
He graduated from Price Memorial College of Amarillo in 1962 and joined the Marine Corps the following year.
In 1971, Bud made a big life change – starting and attending many AA meetings. He found help, and a place to help many, in his 55 years of sobriety and he was very proud.
Bud became a father to Theresa in 1968 and Brenda in 1973, and it takes a big heart to be a Daddy to girls.
He lived much of his life between Lubbock and Amarillo doing multiple jobs, but auto sales were his love. He always looked forward to sharing God’s word, and ministering in New Mexico really touched his life.
His big smile and contagious laugh touched many.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Margaret Nelson; his wife, Sharon Nelson; and brother, Jack Nelson.
Bud is survived by a sister, Jerry Durbin and husband Larry; his daughters, Theresa Nelson and Brenda Dumas and husband Brandon; two granddaughters, Ami Mitchell and husband Craig and Kelsie Mullins and husband Jesse; a grandson, Brennen Dumas and wife Victoria; many nieces, nephews and great-granddaughters; and left behind many family and friends who were greatly loved.
