Florentino “Floyd” Baca, of Amarillo, TX, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024. He was born on October 22, 1934, in Santa Rosa, NM, to parents Virginio and Cleotilden Baca. Floyd graduated from Santa Rosa High School and subsequently enlisted in the United States Army, where he served valiantly as a Private First Class during the Korean War.
After being honorably discharged from military service, Floyd married Patricia “Patsy” Montoya. The couple later moved to Amarillo, TX, where their family blossomed with the birth of seven children: Susan Chavez, Jayne Stewart, Joseph “Teddy” Baca, Jessica Chavez, Carlos Baca, Claudina Garcia, and Nancy Stone. Floyd's legacy continues through several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dedicated to his education, Floyd pursued studies in heating and air conditioning, earning a degree from Amarillo College. He enjoyed a successful career in the food service industry, where he excelled as a restaurant manager and chef, dedicating 45 years to this profession before his retirement.
In retirement, Floyd ventured into car sales for another 20 years, ultimately retiring completely.
Floyd is preceded in death by his father, mother and son, Joseph. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends, who hold his memory close to their heart.
