Floyd Wesley Kellison

July 10, 1963 — June 28, 2011

A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 2 in the Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Rev. Gary Kellison, his uncle, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Wesley, named after grandfathers he never had the opportunity to know, was born on July 10th, 1963 in Amarillo, Texas. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1981. Wesley earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from Texas A & M University and pursued doctoral work at Purdue University. His career spanned 25 years moving his home from California to Texas to Arizona and finally to Colorado. In Colorado, Wesley was employed with MITRE Corporation, a not-for-profit organization that applies Systems Engineering and Advanced Technology to critical national problems. He loved his work and was well-respected by co-workers and peers in his field. His hobbies included astronomy, which he said would have been his chosen profession had he not decided on electrical engineering, and music. He loved music and loved to play his guitars. Wesley loved animals. He contributed often to the ASPCA. His family included two canine friends, Coda and Dreyfuss, who have been constant and steadfast companions for over ten years. Wesley was preceded in death by his brother, Kelly Kellison. He is survived by his parents, JoAnn and Junior Kellison of Amarillo, Texas, a brother, Ricky Kellison of Amarillo, Texas and a sister, Linda Curry of Sanger, Texas. Wesley is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. Wes is leaving behind a loving family and friends who stood with him in his unrelenting battle to overcome cancer. He was a gentle soul will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
