Fred Barrera

Fred Barrera, 80 of Amarillo died Friday Jan. 16, 2003 at his home. Rosary will be at 6:00 PM Monday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel with Father Ken Keller of Crown of Texas Hospice officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage. Mr. Barrera was born in San Antonio. He moved to Amarillo in 1938 from San Antonio. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and worked in construction for many years. He married Sophia Garcia in 1948 at Amarillo. He was a Catholic. Mr. Barrera loved his family and friends. He enjoyed riding with the railroad man, Rudy. Survivors include: his wife of the home, 2 daughters; Susie Candelaria and Carolyn Rodriguez both of Amarillo, 4 sons; Pat Barrera of Corpus Christi, and Rudy Barrera, Tim Barrera and Steve Barrera all of Amarillo, 2 sisters; Rose Gloria of Los Angeles, CA and Isabel Duran of Riverside, CA, 4 brothers; Paul Barrera of Lancaster, CA, Richard Barrera of Vacaville, CA, Jimmy Barrera of Los Angeles, CA and Primo Barrera of Woodland, CA, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
