Gabriel E. Chavez

Gabriel E. Chavez 48, of Amarillo died Wednesday May 26, 2010 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Loran Harper, pastor of Comanche Trail Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 12:30pm - 7:00 pm and Monday 10am - 2pm at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Gabriel was born on October 26, 1961 in Amarillo to Benito I. Chavez and Micaela Chavez. He was a man of faith, a believer in our Savior, Jesus Christ. As a loving father, son, and brother, Gabriel was always encouraging, always mindful of others. He graduated from Caprock High School and attended Texas Tech University. He was a lifelong resident of Amarillo, and worked as an insurance agent for many years. He was interested in life-long learning as evidenced by his biblical and professional studies. He also enjoyed serving the community through various civic organizations. He is survived by his daughter, Elle Victoria Chavez; his mother, Micaela Escoto; stepfather, Adolfo Escoto; two brothers and five sisters; nine nieces and nephews. The family requests memorial donations to be made to Campus Crusade for Christ.
