Gary L. Hood

Gary Hood, 73, of Dimmit passed away on Tuesday November 20, 2007 at Dimmit. Funeral Service will be held on Friday November 23, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Amarillo, with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Interment will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, Osage Chapel, 2800 South Osage, Amarillo Texas. Mr. Hood served in the United States Army, having served most of his enlistment in Germany. He enjoyed playing golf and loved to travel. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a loving husband. He was a family man who enjoyed his family, which came before golf. He worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1999. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Garlin Hood and Aubrey Loyce Hood; a son, Rick Hood and a step-son Robert Minnick. Survivors include: his wife, Gainell Hood of the home; three daughters, Deborah Fite and her husband Bruce of Amarillo; Vicky Carter and her husband Dwayne of Warrenton, Missouri; and Shellie Collins and her husband Kyle of Dimmit; a brother Jerry Don Hood and his wife Andrea of Surprise Arizona; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association , 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
