Gary Wayne Mills 73, of Amarillo died Thursday, June 10, 2021 in Amarillo. A gathering of family and friends will be t 5pm Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 5218 E. Slope Dr. Cremation was by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Gary was born on Dec. 16, 1947 in Quanah to Tom Shelby and Wanda Pauline (Kelso) Mills. He graduated from Palo Duro High School. Gary served in the Army during the Vietnam war. He worked as a warehouseman for several companies, including Levi Strauss in Amarillo. Gary was an avid sports fan. He could carry on a conversation with anyone. He was very well read and loved gaining knowledge about almost everything. He was also very witty and incredibly funny. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Paula Sue Richerson and Kitty Elaine Hufford. Gary is survived by his two brothers, Phil Mills and his wife Carol of Canyon Lake and Dennis Shelby Mills of Amarillo; his great-nephew, Jordan Shelby Madrid of Amarillo and a host of loving friends and extended family.
