Instead, join us in the celebration of life as we honor him with a colorful day filled with music and love. You are respectfully invited to join his family for a memorial to celebrate the loving life of Pa. All Families and Friends are invited to gather together for a memorial to be held on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Rector Family Funeral Home, located at 2800 South Osage, Amarillo TX. In Loving Memory of Pa, Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, with Pastor Nathan Carrington presiding at 2 pm at the Rector Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial Services will follow in Llano Cemetery East, located at 2900 South Hayes Street, Amarillo TX. Military Honors will be provided by the Amarillo Volleys for Veterans. Pa was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 22, 1938, to Frank Brenes and Virginia Urdiales. He was raised by his beloved Step-Mother Margarita Rios de Brenes with his two siblings Sara Ramos and Anthony Brenes-Rios in Mexico City. Upon his return to the U.S., he enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged on December 30, 1959. He loved jumping out of planes so much that soon after he enlisted in the Army Reserve and later the Special Forces Airborne Reserve Unit until his retirement on August 20, 1976. He married his beloved wife, Hilda Yolanda Brenes (Escobedo) in Matamoros, Mexico on July 5, 1972. They remained together for thirty-six years before her untimely passing. He loved her so much that he remained widowed for the following fourteen years. Pa served in the aviation industry for over twenty years. He was an aviation mechanic for Bell Helicopter and Lockheed Martin. He dabbled with retirement but quickly discovered that his social charisma was being wasted when not around others. So he got a part-time gig at Amarillo National Bank for another ten years. Always young at heart, as his nurses can testify, he enjoyed being around others, cracking jokes, and having a good time. Pa truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than his own children, as any loving and doting Grandfather is prone to do. Pa is preceded in death by his wife Hilda, and parents. Those left to cherish his memories are his sons; Gilbert Brenes, Michael Brenes, Ronnie Brenes, George Brenes Jr. and wife Esperanza, Eduardo C. Brenes and his daughter Denise Brenes and husband Christopher. Grandchildren; George Patrick Brenes and wife Abby, Andrew, Arron, Brandon, Annika, Clarisa, Isabelle, and Penelope. Great-Grandchildren; Dysire, Aviyana, Adaliyna, and many other families and dear friends.
