George Carl Fox 85 of Amarillo died Saturday May 24, 2008 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Llano Garden Mausoleum. Military honors will be by the DAV Chapter #26. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Fox was born in Happy to Claud Hannon and Bessie Gladys (Hendrix) Fox. He served as a medic in the Army during WWII and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He moved to Amarillo in 1945 from Jackson, MS. Mr. Fox owned and operated several service stations in Amarillo during the 1960's. He also worked as a United States Postal Contractor for more than 35 years. He retired in 2000. Mr. Fox was involved in Potter County politics. He ran for a commissioner's seat several years ago. Mr. Fox married Juanita Dunn in 1945 at Jackson, MS. She died in 1992. Survivors include 1 daughter, Georgia Anita Carlson and her husband Glenn of Texarkana; 4 sons, Andrew Claude Fox and his wife Frances of Atlanta, GA, John David Fox and his wife Teddy of Happy and Buddy Fox and William Hendrix Fox both of Amarillo; 1 sister, Iola Davis of Amarillo; 1 brother, Hugh Fox of Denton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
