George Riley

George Riley 78, of Amarillo died Saturday, November 12, 2016 in Amarillo. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Riley was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 3, 1938 to John J. and Annie (Knight) Riley. He was the youngest of 11 children. George worked at ASARCO for 50 years. He transferred to Amarillo in 1975. He was a dedicated and faithful employee and never missed a day of work. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends. He married Joanne Shramek on April 18, 1959 in Baltimore. His family enjoyed listening to his life experiences. He was considered the "rock" of his family. George was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed. George was preceded in death by a son, John James Riley in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, of the home; three daughters, Donna Waid, Linda Pini and Sherry Riley and their husbands; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A special thank you to his loving wife who took excellent care of George during his long illness. Also, thank you to Donna, David, Linda, Sherry and his granddaughter, Jessica Anne for the love and care they shared.
