George Thomas ""Jack"" Rowley, Sr. 94, of Amarillo died Friday November 28, 2008 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery with Randy Srader, pastor of God of Wonders Church officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Rowley was born in Amarillo, April 30, 1914 to Benjamin Harry and Mary Mae (Lynch) Rowley. Jack worked as a machinist for Santa Fe Railroad and served as treasurer for the Fireman and Oilers Union. He was a dedicated advocate and voice for the working men of the railroad. He was known as the ""Little Professor"". He retired from the railroad after 30 years of service. As a young man, Jack signed on with the C.C. Camp and served as an officer's orderly. In the 1940's, he operated a caf in the basement of the Amarillo Building. Prior to working for Santa Fe, Jack worked at Pantex. Jack was a Christian and a member of San Jacinto Assembly of God. He faithfully studied the Bible. Jack was a very loving father and grandfather. He had numerous cherished friends. Among them were Barbara Warren, Rosemary Haynes, Ann Woodruff, Rowena and Faye, all of whom he shared good get-togethers with. Our father, ""Pop"", grandfather and friend will be sorely missed by all. Jack married Emma Mae King on March 31, 1937. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Phyllis Norris and an infant grand-daughter. The family would like to extend a heart-felt ""Thanks"" to Drs. Sreenivasan, Rios and Jaffar, as well as the caring staff of Baptist St. Anthony's Health Care and the staff of Rector Funeral Home for their loving care and support. Survivors include: 1 daughter, Freda Arabie and her husband Paul of Oklahoma City; 2 sons, George T. Rowley, Jr. and his wife Lois and Harry Rowley and his wife Cheryl all of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. The family requests memorial donations to a favorite charity.
