Georgia Lee Simmons

Georgia Lee Simmons, 93, of Amarillo, died on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7th, in Rector Funeral Home Pioneer Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home.

Georgia was born on April 15, 1932, in Dodson, Texas to Thomas and Frances Underwood. She grew up in Dodson and became the head cosmetician for Albertson’s on 45th St. in Amarillo for over 32 years.

After retirement, she and her husband would spend winters in the Rio Grand Valley. She loved to fish any chance that she could. She was member of the Red Hats Society and The First Church of Christ Scientist.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Simmons.

She married Bill Leonard on July 27, 2016, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Leonard of Amarillo; a son, Jim Simmons and wife Judy of Amarillo; a daughter, Janet Simmons and husband John Landry of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Jandy Furman, Jamie Kucera, Jody Ray Gilcrest, Jancee Beth Simmons, John Simmons, and Jarrod Simmons; and numerous great-grandchildren.
