Gerardo 'Jerry' Ornelas

Gerardo "Jerry" Ornelas, 61, of Amarillo died Thursday, December 17, 2020. Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. Rosary will be 6:30 pm Tuesday, December 29 at the funeral home. Jerry was born May 4, 1959, in Amarillo to Carolina and Francisco Ornelas. He was born and raised in Amarillo. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1978. After high school, Jerry spent several years in San Francisco. He was always laughing and had a contagious smile. His personality set the atmosphere in a room. This would attract the love of his life, Shari. They married on October 17, 1980. They were married for 29 years until her death. Jerry loved his friends and family. They meant the world to him, especially his granddaughter, Ava. She was the apple of his eye. the accomplishments of his nieces and nephews were like assets to him. Jerry was very proud of them. He enjoyed San Francisco, he became an avid 49ers football fan and a Giants baseball fan. Jerry was preceded in death by his Parents, His wife, Shari, two brothers; Daniel and Francisco Ornelas Jr. He is survived by his two daughters; Melissa and Jessica Ornelas, granddaughter, Ava, three sisters; Esther Almanza and her husband Joe, Rachael Ornelas, and Irma Walker and her husband Lawrence, two brothers; Arturo Ornelas and his wife Rosie, and Henry Ornelas and his wife Glinda, many nieces nephews, and a vast number of lifelong friends.
