Glen I. Atkinson

Glen I. Atkinson, 78 of Amarillo died Sunday August 31, 2003 Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday at Kingswood United Methodist Church in Amarillo with officiating. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Friday at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage, Amarillo, TX 79103. Mr. Atkinson was born in Rogers, Arkansas. He moved to Amarillo in 1990 from Wichita, Kansas. He worked as a purchasing agent for Sessna Aircraft for 35 years. He retired in 1986. Mr. Atkinson did volunteer work at St. Josephs Hospital in Wichita, Kansas for many years. After moving to Amarillo, he volunteered at St. Anthonys Hospital and then BSA Hospital, with over 4000 hours of service. He was also very involved with the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years. He married Evelyn Louise Nicholson in 1945 at Peabody, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 1998. Survivors include 1 son, Mike Atkinson of Amarillo; and 1 sister, Joy Slaughter of St. Louis, MO; and 2 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop # 86, 7704 Tripp, Amarillo, TX 79121, or to Kingswood United Methodist Church, 4801 S. Austin, Amarillo, TX 79110.
