Glen M. Litherland

Glen M. Litherland 90, of Amarillo died Wednesday December 9, 2009 at his home. Private family burial will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Litherland was born in Friendsville, IL. He served in the Army, Army Air Corps and Air Force during World War II and Korea. He retired from the Air Force in 1960 as a Tech Sgt. During his service to our country, Mr. Litherland had been stationed in the Philippines and Japan. He married Voncelle Alcorn on June 7, 1942 in Missouri. They were married 58 wonderful years. They lived in many places in the United States during Mr. Litherland's military career. They settled in Amarillo in 1964. Mr. Litherland was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved telling stories about his life to his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending mornings drinking coffee with his son, Bo. He is survived by 1 son, Glen M. ""Bo"" Litherland and wife Denise of Amarillo; 3 daughters, Sabra Litherland of Southaven, MS, Pamela Barrientez and her husband Juan of Amarillo and Tammy Porter and her husband Michael of Berlin, NJ; 2 brothers, Hershel Litherland of Mt. Carmel, IL and Kenny Litherland of Kentucky; 2 sisters, Patricia of Mt. Carmel, IL and Oma Restino of Maryland; 6 grandchildren, Amanda Garcia, Jessica Luman, Megan Litherland, Casey Rejda, Zachary Porter and Caitlyn Porter and 1 great-grandson Christian Jones.
