Grady Royal Smith, 91 of Amarillo died Wednesday July 16, 2014 in Amarillo. Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, Texas. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Grady was born on August 11, 1922 in Stephens, Ark. to Charles Franklin and Bessie Evans Smith. The family moved to Hall County, Texas in the early thirties. Grady graduated from Memphis High School. He joined the Army Air Corps during World War II and served in the Asiatic Pacific - Burma Campaign. He was one the six sons in the family to serve their country. Grady and his wife Nora Lee made their home in Azel, TX. They traveled the Mid - West and Western states compiling and printing telephone directories for South Western Bell. After retiring he was employed with the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. He is survived by two sisters Melba Joy of Amarillo and Velma White of San Antonio, two brothers Thomas Tony Smith of El Paso and Charles Smith, and many nieces and nephews.
