Wally was born in Goldfinch, Texas to Julia (Benavidez) and Conrado Ventura. He was married to Guadalupe “Lupina” Ventura and together they had five children, Martin, Nora, Richard, Dalia, and Peter.
Wally worked as a farmer and then ended his working career at Amarillo Independent School District as a custodian for over 30 years. He was a clean and orderly man and was constantly doing yard work. He was often found outside on his tractor; this could have been because he also loved people watching. Wally was an avid storyteller – and his stories were sprinkled with some truth. He was an extremely hard worker and a wonderful provider for his family. He especially loved Thursdays spent with his granddaughter, Ariel, and looked forward to it each week.
Wally was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In the last three years, he became a member of the congregation and loved spending time with them. He would attend each gathering and function.
Wally especially loved his Ford truck, listening to classic country music – LOUD, and singing. He was often seen wearing baseball caps, most of the time a different hat that was given to him by his family. He was an avid Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching sports.
Wally was preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe “Lupina” Ventura; son, Richard Ventura; son-in-law, Ben Moreno; and grandchildren, Eliseo Ventura and Jacqueline Ventura.
He is survived by his children, Martin Ventura and wife MaryAnn, Nora Ventura Moreno, Dalia Ventura, and Peter Ventura; grandchildren, Xavier Ventura, Michael Ventura, Kimberly Ventura, Ariel Ventura, Valarie Ventura, and Allyssa Ventura; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Jose Ventura and wife Lorenza, and Maria Ventura; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
