A celebration of his life will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, June 19 at Memorial Park, located at Amarillo College Washington St. Campus, by the tennis courts. There will be food and entertainment provided. Due to Harley's request, his body is in the care of Texas Tech University Health Sciences department for medical research. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 South Osage St. Harley was born on August 7, 1926 in Sweetwater, OK. He served his country proudly, as a paratrooper, in both the U.S. Army and Navy. The U.S. Post Office later employed him where he worked for several years until his retirement. He married Barbara Bonner on June 8, 1951, and would have recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Many knew Harley as a hard worker. He particularly enjoyed doing yard work, of all kinds, until he was physically incapable of doing so. His family was his pride and joy, and they will continue to cherish the wonderful times shared with him. Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Amarillo; 2 sons, Monte Black of Colorado Springs, CO, and Ricky Black of Amarillo; 3 daughters, Carla Butler of Glen Rose, Harla Black of Lubbock, and Vicky Black of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
