Harold D. Hollabaugh

Harold D. Hollabaugh, 79, of Amarillo, died Monday, February 6, 2006 in Amarillo. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 9, 2006 at 2:00 PM in Rector Funeral Home, Osage Chapel, with Chaplain Wiley Chaney, Chaplain Johnny Dellis and Reverend Aubrey G. Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 South Osage Amarillo, Texas 79103. Harold was born January 5, 1927 in Rising Star, Texas to Luther and Florance Hollabaugh. He was the oldest son in a family of three children. He entered the Army in 1945, and served during WWII. He married Dorothy H. Fisher April 5, 1947 in Amarillo, Texas. He worked at Pantex from 1959 until his retirement in 1992. While at Pantex, he worked as a Production Technician in the Manufacturing Division, later transferring to the Fire Department, where he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and finished his career as a Security Guard in the Security Division. After his retirement, he worked as a Gate Attendant for Lake Tanglewood Security until health problems prevented his continuance. He loved camping, fishing, and bowling. He especially loved his only grandson and four great-grandchildren. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Palo Duro Lodge #1239, and was also a lifetime member of the Scottish Rites. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy H. Hollabaugh of the home; a daughter, Theresa L. Pannell and husband Deryal of Amarillo; a son, Terry A. Hollabaugh and wife Carol of Amarillo; a grandson, Richard Butcher and wife Heather of Amarillo; four great-grandchildren, Joseph, H.D., Andrew, and Jennifer; a brother, Kenneth Hollabaugh and wife Mary Ann of Amarillo; a sister, Barbara Daly and Sonny, of Amarillo; two special friends, Lou Shelton of Lufkin and Lee England of Amarillo; and the family pet, Renee. The family will greet visitors at the funeral home tonight from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to BSA Hospice, 200 NW 7th, Amarillo TX 79107.
