Harold J. Mathis, 51, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on February 12, 2026.
Harold was born to Harold and Theola Nelson Mathis July 16, 1974, in Amarillo, TX. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1992. He attended Amarillo College studying electronics. Harold worked with his dad from the age of 6 at Mathis Airspeed gas station pumping gas airing tires checking oil washing windshields and fixing flats and changing tires and whatever else the boss needed done. He worked his way up to management for McDonalds from the age of 16 (faithfully) for over 30 years until his health wouldn't allow
him to work anymore. He also worked for DLoc company for a short stint.
Harold loved building speaker boxes for the booming bass sound he put in his and friends’ (and his wife's) cars. In his spare time, he could be found working on his car using the knowledge of mechanics he learned from his dad, and he was pretty good at it. His favorite thing to do was get away and go fishing. He actually was good at most of the tasks he put his hands to, from plumbing to wiring, welding, sanding, painting cars and several other tasks he undertook. Harold was someone who was easy to talk to and someone who made friends with many people....and did we mention he loved to go fishing....
Harold will be dearly and deeply missed, but we look forward to seeing him again.
Harold was a member of St. Matthew Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Theola Mathis, his sister Cynthia Mathis and his daughter Raven Mathis.
