Harriet L. Chorney

Harriet L. Chorney, 85, of Amarillo died Wednesday, April 18, 2012. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be at 3:00 PM Friday at Temple B'Nai Israel. Cremation was by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Ms. Chorney was born on Sept. 14, 1926 in Springfield, MA to Lillian and Nathan Chorney of blessed memory, and raised in New Haven, CT and Brooklyn, NY. She spent the majority of her adult years in the Maryland/Washington, DC area. Ms. Chorney was a graduate of the New York City High School of Music and Art and New York University. Harriet worked as a psychiatric occupational therapist for many years and stayed involved in healing work after her retirement. A lifelong artist, Harriet was a painter, sculptor, jewelry-maker and collager. Dedicated to lifelong learning, she kept an open mind and open heart until her death. She is survived by a brother, Bud Chorney and his wife; four children, Pamela M. Zenick, Jeff Zenick, Melanie Zenick Lynch and Andrew R. Zenick, and their spouses; four granchildren, Jeremy Nathan Clarke, Sara Kate Irvine, Mollie Alicia Lynch and Nadezhda Andrea Zenick, and a great-granddaughter, Roslyn Marie Clarke; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and treasured friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Interim Hospice Foundation 1901 Medi-Park Ste. 1025 Amarillo, Texas 79106
