Harry B. "Pop" Loya, Jr. 72, of Amarillo died Friday march 10, 2017 in Amarillo. A gathering of family and friends will be at a later date. Viewing will be from 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Pop was born on April 19, 1944 in Woonsocket, RI., to Harry B. and Lucille Loya. He moved to Amarillo in 1981 from Gloversville, NY. Pop was an excellent mechanic. He worked as a bus mechanic for the Amarillo ISD for many years. He was a HAM radio operator. His call number was KF5FQS. He also loved building and working on off-road toys. Pop married the love of his life, Sharon Miller on September 5, 1964 in Johnstown, NY. He dearly loved his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time at the river, mudding and camping. He was an extraordinary man and will be missed. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, for sons, Harry B. Loya, III, of Elkhart, KS, Robert "Bobby" Loya, Brian Charles Loya and Richard James Loya all of Amarillo; four daughters, Dolita Simmons, Annette Hernandez and Karen Sue Irving all of Amarillo and Virginia Mize of Panhandle; one brother, Kenneth Loya of Mattawa, Ontario, Canada; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donations to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 6977 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77030.
