Helen Barrera

Helen Barrera 78 of Panhandle died Sunday Aug. 24, 2008 in Panhandle. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St Helen was born in Poland. She was captured by Hitler and sent to a labor camp at the age of 8. She remained in the camp until the end of WWII. She married a GI and moved to Winnemucca, NV. She moved to Panhandle in 1992. She married Jimmy Alldredge in 1992. She had been a resident of St. Ann's Nursing home for the last year and a half. Survivors include her husband, 1 son, Adam Wawrzak of Wisconsin Dells, WI; 2 step daughters, Sharon K. Alldredge of Springville, CO and Roganna Reef of Ft. Morgan, CO; and several grandchildren. The family requests memorial donations to St. Ann's Nursing Home 308 E. Hwy 293 Panhandle, TX 79068 or the American Diabetes Foundation.
