Helena Yvonne Walker,77,of Amarillo passed to be in the presence of the Lord on March 29, 2018. Helena was born to Leonard and Della Howard on October 16,1940. Helena was married to James P Walker March 13, 1958 in Amarillo. She lived in Amarillo, doing carpentry for 20+ years, she also worked for Amarillo Hardware. She was known as the neighborhood animal saver everyone brought wounded or strayed animals to her. She also had the green thumb and could make anything grow. She loved her family more than anything. A special person came to her life in 2017 that she considered her grandson. He also became her caretaker in the end. Thank you, Steven Cochran. You meant a lot to her. She considered you her angel. She was preceded in death by her husband, James P walker, her son, James P Walker, Jr and a granddaughter, Christina E. Smith, also her brother Don Howard, half sister Shirley Howard, half brother James Howard and son in-law Garland Ray Melton. She is survived by three daughters, Janice Glass-Weaver and husband Wayne, Sandra Walker and husband Dennis, and Shawnda Melton Potter and husband Chris, all of Amarillo. Two half brothers, James Fitzsimmons, Lloyd Fitzsimmons, and great uncle Albert Taylor. 10 Grandchildren- Miranda Blakeney, Michelle Bailey, Martin Blakeney, Jr, Charlie Hart, Joshua Hart, Anthony Melton, Sarah Patton, Shayna Tully, Shyanna Landon, and Jessie Melton. 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
