Henry Ford Ritter

Henry Ritter, 98, of Dalhart died Monday, May 31, 2021. A private family memorial will take place at a later date, Arrangements and cremation are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. Henry Ford Ritter was born march 14, 1923 in Monroe Oklahoma to martin and Minnie Ritter. He has resided at the Community Living Center at the Veterans Hospital in Amarillo since August 2016. Henry called Dalhart, Texas his home since he was a teen. Henry worked his entire adult life at the Dalhart Motor and Tire which later became known as Furniture Fashions finally calling it quits at the age of 91. Henry was a World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre at New Guinea and New Brittan for the US Army. He served as Commander and Chief of the Dalhart VFW and the American Legion for many years and was a lifetime member of the Elks in Dalhart. He had a very kind and gentle soul and always treated people with respect. He loved all animals, having many over his lifetime, old western movies, and the love of his life was a good game of poker. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and one sister, three wives; Anita Lyon Ritter, Eva Lavonne Ritter, and Wiletta Ritter. He is survived by his three daughters; Sheila Muno and her husband Burl, Kathy Leigh and her husband Johnny (Benny), and Fawn Miller and her husband Mark, Six grandchildren, and eleven Great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of the VA CLC of Amarillo for their loving care and compassion. The family requests memorials to go to the Amarillo Veterans Hospital "The Lodge".
