Homer Gene Williams, 68, of Amarillo died Sunday, January 5, 2003. Funeral Services will be at 9:30 AM Wednesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Msgr. Joseph Tash officiating. Military Rites will be by DAV Chapter #26. Interment will be at Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Williams was born in Mosquero, NM. He graduated from College Academy in Corpus Christi. He served in the Air Force for 10 years, including service during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked for the civil service at Ft. Lyons, CO VA Medical Center. He retired in 1985 and moved to Amarillo. After moving to Amarillo, he volunteered full-time at the VA Hospital for 18 years. Mr. Williams was a very kind, gentle, and compassionate person. His first love was Jesus Christ our Savior. He will be missed by all. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Survivors include: his mother, Jewel Ellsaesser of Amarillo; 1 sister, Edwina Schlientz of Amarillo; 1 niece, Marcia Worley of Rowlett, TX; 1 nephew, Tom Schlientz of Farmers Branch, TX; 2 cousins, Sue Seeliger of Amarillo, and Deanne Crittendon of Yukon, OK; 2 grandnephews, Zachary Worley and Matthew Worley both of Rowlett, TX. Memorial Donations: Olivias Angels c/o Baptist St. Anthonys Hospice and Life Enrichment Center or St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
