Irene Bauman-Daugherty

Irene Bauman-Daugherty 88, of Amarillo died Saturday November 21, 2009 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday November 25, 2009 at Amarillo Bible Church with Rev. Bob Burns, pastor officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Daugherty was born on November 5, 1921 in Childress to Elmer and Ethel Cantrell. She moved to Amarillo shortly after graduating from Childress High School. In 1992, she moved to Longview and returned to Amarillo in 2005. Irene was a devoted Christian and had a passion for serving the Lord. She was very active in the Gideon Auxiliary. She was a devoted prayer warrior. Mrs. Daugherty made 5 trips to the Holy Land. She traveled and spoke with the Christian Women's Club and shared evangelistic messages and gave slide lectures on her trips to the Holy Land. She was a long-time member of the Amarillo Bible Church. She was preceded in death by her sons, Terry Smith in 2003 and Dan Smith in 2007. She is survived by her husband Robert E. ""Bob"" Daugherty of Amarillo, 6 grandchildren, Holly Lyon and her husband Jon of Dallas, Gary Smith and his wife Lisa of Amarillo, Jay Smilth and his wife Carol of Austin, Kent Smith and his wife Michelle of Angel Fire, NM, Jennie Nulik and her husband Zak and Katie Smith of Enid, OK; 5 great-grandchildren, Brady Smith, Avery Smith, Alissa Smith, River Smith and Derek Noekel; 2 daughters in law, Anne Smith of Amarillo and Susan Smith of Enid, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be to Gideon's International P.O. Box 2304 Amarillo, Texas 79105.
