Irene Chavez, 81, of Amarillo died Tuesday, October 26, 2021. The funeral service is 2:00 pm Monday, November 1st at Power Church officiated by Manny De Los Santos. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. The family will receive guests Saturday and Sunday 1:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home. Irene was born in Encantrada-Ranchito El Calaboz, Tx on January 15, 1940, to Maria and Epifanio Guzman. She was a hardworking God-Fearing woman. She was a kind, loving Christian. She was a member of Power Church since it opened. She was a prayer warrior. Irene would give anything to anyone especially her children. She would have given them the world if she could have. She was a feisty woman, but she had a big heart. She was a good cook and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was the rock of the family and instilled that in her children. Irene met the love of her life, Jesus Chavez when they worked in the fields at the age of 16. They were together until he passed away in 1986. Irene Chavez will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Joel Chavez, three sisters; Josefina Merino, Augustina Arenas, and Janie Bustos, and one brother, Epifanio Guzman Jr.. She is survived by her three daughters; Mary Sandoval and her husband Johnny, Linda Chavez, and Michelle Floyd and her husband Terrence, her three sons; Jessie Chavez and his wife Vicky, Daniel Chavez and his wife Angela, and Ray Chavez, 21 grandchildren, 67 greatgrandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
