Jackson Riley "Jack" Venable 89, of Amarillo died Thursday, April 28, 2016 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in West Lawn Cemetery in Fritch with Bob Miller, pastor of Crossroads Country Church officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Jack was born on December 26, 1926 in Lee Summit, MO. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served as a signalman during WWII. He was stationed in the Philippines and served throughout the Pacific Theatre. After being honorable discharged, Jack worked as a sign painter. He opened ABC signs in 1979 and retired in 1987. Jack was an exceptional man. He never met a stranger. He was dearly loved by everyone who met him. He married the love of his life, Reva Hogan on November 4, 1961 in Borger. Jack is survived by his wife Reva, six sons, Clay Venable and his wife Melanie and Kelly Venable and his wife Cindy all of Amarillo, Herb Venable, Buck Venable and his wife Angie and Jerry Venable and his wife Melene all of Sedalia, MO and Jack Venable and his wife Dianna of Rapid City, SD; one brother, Keith Venable of Sedalia, MO; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donations be to the Amarillo ASPCA, 11901 S. Coulter St., Amarillo, Texas 79119.
