James E. Clayton

James Edward Clayton Jr., 66, of Amarillo died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 1, 2006, in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. with Kurt Oheim, pastor of Pinnacle Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery.

Mr. Clayton was born June 2, 1940, in Omaha, Neb. He moved to Amarillo three weeks ago from Sioux City, Iowa. He worked as a concrete finisher and in construction for more than 40 years.

He married his soul mate, Dorothy May Golden-Nelson on Jan. 6, 1978, in Omaha. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Clayton was a loving husband and father and will be missed.

He was a member of the Lutheran church and was baptized in Lake Roosevelt in Grand Coulee, Wash.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Lori Fowler, Terri Land and Shari Penny, all of Amarillo, and Kristi Sander of Happy; four sons, Tom Penny, Steve Nelson, Mark Nelson and Kirk Nelson, all of Amarillo; a brother, Donald Clayton of Council Bluff, Iowa; 23 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
