James R. Morgan 60, of Amarillo died Monday, December 9, 2013 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Billy Carpenter officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. James was born on November 20, 1953 in Fort Wayne, IN to James and Ann Morgan. He served in the National Guard and moved to Texas more than 20 years ago. He moved to Amarillo from Haltom City in 1999. James was a loving husband, father and granddaddy. He loved spoiling his grandchildren. He worked as a machinist in the tooling department of Textron Bell Helicopter for 15 years. James was a closet banjo picker. He was a member of the Panhandle Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Association, where he had served as president. James loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His Faith in Christ deepened during his illness. He married the love of his life, Dee on August 8, 2003 in Amarillo. He was a past member of Victory Harvest Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Texas Oncology and Hospice Care of the Southwest for the loving care they all provided to James. He is survived by his wife, 4 daughters, Amanda Detwiler of Bristol, IN, Alicia Mejia and her husband Edward, Jr., and Kayla Fuentes and her husband Angelrea and Elizabeth Morgan all of Amarillo; 4 sons, Tom Morgan and his wife Rachel of Southside, AL, Alex Franco and his wife Corrie and Gabriel Morgan all of Amarillo and Anthony Morgan of San Antonio; 3 sisters, Pat Fields of Arlington, Ginger Young of Burleson and Clara Bielecki of Jasper, AR; 14 grandchildren, a host of family and friends and his 3 dogs, Hound Dog, Sassi and Bella. The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM 7:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home and suggest memorial donations to the PBOMA, PO Box 31042 Amarillo, Texas 79120.
