James 'Jim' Holland Taylor

James Jim Holland Taylor, 81, of Amarillo died Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Memorial services will be at 11:00am Saturday, January 17, in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Jim was born March 30, 1933 in Amarillo and was raised by his grandmother, Mary Woods. He married Paulyne Marie Rutherford in June of 1957and they were together until her death in 2009. Mr. Taylor served in the Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean War. He was a life-long diesel mechanic and drove long-haul for many years. He owned Taylor Truck Service until he retired in 2011. Mr. Taylor loved fishing, traveling the back roads and collecting vintage vehicles. He was an avid collector of Mickey Mouse memorabilia. He enjoyed visiting Disneyland and made sure that his children and grandchildren were able to experience it as well. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He could always amuse us with his tales of the bad old days that he remembered fondly. His passing leaves a void in our family that can never be filled. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Woods, his wife, Paulyne Taylor and his son, Lanny Snider. Survivors include five daughters, Pamela Westbrook and husband James, Joann Hagberg and husband Hank, Tracy Taylor, Robin Briggs and husband Robert, Magan Allen and husband Greg, all of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Scott and Michael Westbrook, Cindy Moody, Sam Hagberg, Tyra Westbrook, Shepherd Allen; seven great-grandchildren, Logan and Kami Westbrook, Tristian and Taylor Moody, Devin Hagberg, Patrick Gamble, Katelynn Davis, several great-great-grandchildren and his canine companion, Tazmania.
