J.C. Chandler

J.C. Chandler 97, of Amarillo died Friday, July 31, 2020 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at Llano Cemetery with Ronny Chandler, son officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Chandler was born on Oct. 19, 1922 in Brookston to Jesse and Jessie (Parsons) Chandler. He served in the Army during WWII. He served in the South Philippines and New Guinea with the Aircraft Artillery and the Automatic Weapons Battalion. After being honorably discharged, Mr. Chandler lived in Shamrock where he learned to be a mechanic. He moved to Amarillo in 1956 and worked at Plains Chevrolet for more than 30 years. Mr. Chandler enjoyed fishing, camping and singing karaoke. He loved his family and spent a lot of his time in Fritch, Borger and Stinnett. He was preceded in by his parents, four daughters, Judy Chinea, Glenda Nivens, Shirley Bassham and Carolyn Bustillos and one son, Gary Don Chandler. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and his brother. Mr. Chandler is survived by one daughter, Sonnia Pruitt of Stinnett; one son, Ronny Chandler and his wife Judi of Kingston, OK; one sister, Janice Miller of Shawnee, OK; 16 grandchildren and great and great-great grandchildren.
