J.C. Thompson

J.C. Thompson, 58, of Amarillo died Friday, March 24, 2006 in Amarillo. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at River Road Baptist Church with Micah Meurer, Sr., Pastor officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., Amarillo. Mr. Thompson was born in Bexar Co., Texas. He grew up in the San Antonio Area, moving to Amarillo in 1988. He worked as a diesel mechanic for many years and most recently worked as shop foreman at Valley Proteins. He married Wendy Schermerhorn in 1991 at Amarillo. He was a member of River Road Baptist Church. He valued his work in the mission field, and went on mission trips to Russia and Honduras. Viewing and visitation will be Monday from 8:30-5:00 at Rector Funeral Home, Osage Chapel. Survivors include: his wife of the home; 5 daughters, Nicole Ritter of Groom, Kerra Meurer, Kristi Cox, Kala Schermerhorn, and Lisa Thompson all of Amarillo; 3 sons, John Charles Thompson of Amarillo, Roy Thompson of Oklahoma, and Jerry Schermerhorn of Austin; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Micah Joe Thompson, in 2005. The family suggests memorial donations to BSA Hospice of Amarillo, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
