Jesse "Jake" Jones, 83 of Amarillo died Thursday, April 17, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Kerry Spinks officiating. Graveside services will be at Noon Saturday at the Claude Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Jake was born on June 30, 1930 in Claude. He moved to Amarillo in 1964 from Adrian. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Jake worked as a trailer mechanic at American Trailer and Equipment for more than 30 years. He retired from Utility Trailer. He married the love of his life, Shirley Goodenough in 1954. She preceded him in death in 2009. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother and his grandmother Maggie Palmer, who raised him after the death of his mother. Jake enjoyed spending time at Jan Werner playing cards and dominoes with his friends. He was a mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Cowboy Church and Arena of Life. He is survived by 4 sons, Johnny Jones and his wife Ginger of Pampa, Richard Jones and his wife Cathy, Billy Jones and Sam Jones and his wife Sheri all of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Cindy Bullington and her husband Mike of Amarillo and Sandy Blackburn and her husband Steve of Canyon; 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. They request memorial donations to Jan Werner Adult Day Care, 3108 S. Fillmore, Amarillo, Texas 79110.
