Jesus Murguia

Jesus Murguia 64, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in Amarillo. Rosary will be recited a 5 pm Monday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11 am Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Marco Gonzales, celebrant officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Murguia was born in Mexico. He moved to Amarillo in 1970. He worked as a butcher at Palo Duro Meats and IBP/Tyson for many years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Mr. Murguia was and avid horse racing fan and also enjoyed cock fights. He loved to cook and formerly owned and operated a restaurant on Grand St. He married Maria Betancourt on April 4, 1980 in Amarillo. She preceded him in death in 2012. Mr. Murguia was dearly loved by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his son, Jose Luis Murguia of Amarillo; two daughters, Connie Marie Ortega and Becky Ann Sedeno both of Amarillo; four brothers; seven sisters and 11 grandchildren.
