Jesus Rodriquez “Mimi” Velasquez, 93, of Amarillo passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 19, 2025.
Viewing will be 9:00 am – 8:00 pm, Monday, December 22, 2025, at Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage with a visitation from 5:00 – 6:30 pm.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Rector Pioneer Chapel. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mimi was born on November 23, 1932, in Amarillo, Texas to Seferina and Juan Rodriguez. She married Eufemio “Sam” Velasquez on March 6, 1948, in Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 2018.
She was also preceded in death by her children, Sammy, Gloria, Mike and Danny and several brothers and sisters.
She was a homemaker; a mom and was known as “Mimi” to grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren as well as many neighbors and friends. She enjoyed cooking for them as well! She also liked her plants and flowers.
Mimi is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Paris of Amarillo; two sons, Joe Velasquez (Michelle) of Haslet, Texas and Eddie Velasquez (Cindy) of Huntingtown, Maryland; fourteen grandchildren, Jennifer, John, Chris, Maria, Anthony, Angela, Michael, Matthew, Marc, Seferina, Stacy, Sammy, Erica, and Eddie, Jr.; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Which reflected her love and compassion for children.
