Jimmie 'Roger' Dendy

Jimmie "Roger" Dendy 87, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 23, 2018 in Amarillo. Private family services were held at Llano Cemetery, Saturday, July 28, 2018 with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating. Full military honors were rendered by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Dendy was born in Amarillo on February. 25, 1931 to William and Carrie Dendy. He honorably served in the Army during the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart during combat in 1950. Mr. Dendy retired from the Amarillo Helium Plant in 1986 after more than 30 years of faithful service. He married Joyce "Euton" Donley on October. 4, 1952 at Central Baptist Church. Mr. Dendy lived by the "Golden Rule". He was raised with a Christian upbringing and passed that legacy to his three children. He was well respected and in turn, treated every one he met with great dignity. He enjoyed traveling the country with his wife. He also enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He made many life-long friends and was an extraordinary husband and father. Mr. Dendy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son Greg, two brothers and his sister. He is survived by one son, Jerry Dendy and his wife Judy of Amarillo; one daughter, Jonita Fiel and her husband Rick of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Ryan Fiel and his wife Barbara of San Carlos, CA, and Regina Morin and her husband Rocky of Prairieville, LA; six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Slade, Joslin, Asher, Kambrie and Reid. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Thomas E. Creek VA Community Living Center for the loving care they provided to Mr. Dendy.
