Jimmy Wayne Bennett 65, of Amarillo died Wednesday December 15, 2010 at his home in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel . Graveside services will be at 1:30 PM Saturday at Olton Cemetery in Olton. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Bennett was born in Artesia, NM. He moved to Amarillo in 1968 From Arlington. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and after being honorably discharged began a 23 year career at Bell Helicopter as an aircraft mechanic. In 1991, he began working at Honeycomb Composite and then for Leading Edge Aviation. Mr. Bennett married the love of his life, Oleta Smith on April 15, 1967. He was a loving husband, father and son. He enjoyed collecting antiques and spending time creating works of art, especially eagles by wood-burning. Mr. Bennett was a faithful member of Comanche Trail Church of Christ. He was a very quiet and humble man and very hard working. He was a family man that truly loved God, his family and his country. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the High Plains Children's Home, 11461 S. Western Amarillo, Texas 79118.
